A rebellious bowel, skin problems & intolerances
A rebellious gut, a turbulent past and a young woman in search of a cure. How the life of a 35-year-old changed for the better with the help of Modern Mayr Medicine. From the outside, she seemed to have it all. But because she was fighting a silent battle against her rebellious bowel, she sought help at the Park Igls Medical Spa Resort.
Intestinal problems despite a healthy diet?
The initial situation
Lena (name changed), a 35-year-old woman from Germany, was an enigma in her own right. Despite her seemingly healthy diet and active lifestyle, she was constantly plagued by the rebellious actions of her bowels. Her story began two years earlier when she was suddenly struck by recurring bouts of urticaria (hives), mainly after eating. But the real causes of her problems lay deeper, hidden in her past and in the complex diagnoses she received..
Years of intestinal overload
A look into the past
As a child, Lena was slightly overweight. But the real challenges began in her teenage years when she developed bulimia. Although this phase ended at the age of 22, it left its mark on Lena's eating habits. She turned to a vegetarian diet, which she considered "healthy and conscious". However, her preference for raw food, wholemeal products, fruit juices and dairy products, coupled with the after-effects of the eating disorder in her past, led to an overload of her intestines.
On-site medical assessment
A complex diagnosis
After the initial examinations, the following diagnosis was made: Lena suffered from lactose and fructose malabsorption. The detected histamine intolerance and an elevated total IgE level indicated a type I allergy. A waist circumference of 78 cm also clearly showed that her body was out of balance.
The multi-stage therapy in detail
Under the guidance of our medical team, Lena began the Mayr programme. The first three days consisted of a strict weight loss phase, followed by 14 days of diet with restricted protein. In the last week, the diet was relaxed, but she continued to stick to the recommended foods. In addition to her diet, Lena was given bitter water, bitter drops and a probiotic to support her gut health.
Lena's success - calming a rebellious bowel
By the end of her stay, she had not only lost a significant amount of weight, but also felt much better overall. Her abdominal circumference had reduced to 76 cm. She had learnt to listen to her body and give it what it needed.
The rebellious nature of her gut had calmed down and she was well on the way to finding balance in her life.
