Effective therapy against smoking

An 80-year-old man, plagued by health challenges and the fight against smoking, seeks help at the Park Igls Medical Spa Resort. To our great delight, the guest leaves Park Igls as a non-smoker.

Notes from a medical diary

Non-smoker at last

An 80-year-old man with a complex medical history came to us for help. 13 years after a radical prostatectomy (surgical removal of the prostate), he was diagnosed with a local recurrence of a tumour, which was successfully treated with radiotherapy. Despite his coronary heart disease, he was unable to stop smoking. He also had a chicken eye and a low mood, which was exacerbated by the pandemic and the loss of acquaintances.

Diagnostic & therapeutic measures

  • Initial examination
  • Final examination
  • 7 medical appointments
  • 4 cranio-sacral therapy sessions
  • 3 counselling/coaching sessions
  • 1 medical hypnosis/hypnoacupuncture session
  • 1 sonography of the abdomen and vessels

Step by step to the goal

The therapy

The man opted for a three-week cure. He followed a special diet that helped him to relieve his digestive system. He avoided massages and opted instead for cranio-sacral therapies (a form of bodywork that optimises the flow of cerebrospinal fluid) and health psychology sessions. A particular focus was on smoking cessation through hypnoacupuncture (a combination of hypnosis and acupuncture).

During his stay, a haematoma (an accumulation of blood in the tissue) was discovered - caused by a fall. This was carefully monitored and treated. His talking therapies revealed his fears and worries, particularly the fear of dementia. However, a neuropsychological examination showed that he was largely cognitively intact. After 23 days, our guest travelled home in a significantly improved condition. He was a non-smoker, mentally brighter and physically fitter.

Neuro Fit

This specialised programme helps for degenerative diseases of the nervous system such as Parkinson’s or multiple sclerosis.

7, 14 oder 21 nights

Three weeks is three weeks... this case shows how valuable a three-week cure can be. It not only provides sufficient time for healing and recovery, but also for comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
