How the Mayr Cure can help with Parkinson's disease

Elisabeth (name changed) lives with a difficult diagnosis: the once passionate skier and golfer has Parkinson's disease. The disease not only caused motor impairments, but also led the widow, who lives alone, increasingly into isolation. She finally came to us for help. During a two-week stay at Park Igls, Elisabeth saw a ray of hope for the first time. Her motor situation improved considerably, the Parkinson's symptoms decreased significantly and the rollator was allowed to take a break. And her mood also improved.

The first symptoms of Parkinson's

Initial situation

The motor and coordination disorders first became noticeable when playing golf. The usual swings suddenly no longer worked smoothly. Other symptoms followed: the movements became slower and the handwriting changed. Elisabeth found the increasingly bent-forward posture when walking particularly disturbing.

The diagnosis of Parkinson's disease

Creeping into social isolation

A clinic finally diagnosed right-sided idiopathic Parkinson's syndrome and prescribed L-dopa therapy. A path of suffering began that extended into the social sphere. The increasingly visible and noticeable effects of Parkinson's disease led to social withdrawal and thus promoted loneliness and increased isolation.

Therapeutic treatment programme for Parkinson's disease

Medical measures

During her two-week inpatient stay at the Park Igls Medical Spa Resort, Elisabeth underwent a specially developed therapeutic treatment programme for Parkinson's patients. The programme is based on a synthesis of physical therapies and accompanying psychotherapy. The physical therapies included massages, mobilising physiotherapy, coordination exercises and Feldenkrais®. In addition, the principles of Modern Mayr Medicine provided relief for the digestive processes.

Therapy in detail

The therapy included the following diagnostic and therapeutic measures:

  • 1 x Initial examination
  • 4 x Medical check-ups with manual abdominal treatment
  • 1 x Final examination
  • 1 x Neurological consultation examination
  • 1 x Major blood laboratory examination
  • 6 x Physiotherapies
  • 6 x Feldenkrais® therapies
  • 3 x Personal fitness training sessions
  • 4 x Talk therapies
  • 5 x Partial medical massages
  • 1 x Hay and mud pack
  • 1 x Thalasso pack
  • 14 x Kneipp treatments

Visible steps towards success

  • In the first week, the patient came to the therapy sessions with a walking frame.
  • By the end of the second week, she was able to attend the appointments without a walking aid. Her gait pattern improved and her bent-forward posture changed to a more upright one.
  • Elisabeth's encouraging case shows: Modern Mayr Medicine with its synthesis of detoxification, intestinal cleansing, physical therapy, Feldenkrais and qualified psychological support can lead to improvements in symptoms, well-being and general quality of life, even in the case of serious neurological conditions.

'We are delighted that we were able to help Elisabeth improve her health and give her more confidence, and wish her all the best!’
